Ton Cremers has announced that he will be stepping down from moderating the Museum Security Network. Ton has provided an important service in collating a range of news stories and Web 2.0 sources for those of us who research in this area.
Thank you, Ton, for all your work.

I need some time to digest the information that Ton Cremers will finish his WWW activities as owner and moderator of http://www.museum-security.org as of February 1, 2011.
The news comes to me as a shock since I have in the last years become really hooked on Ton’s homepage. One of the first things I do every morning is to check from his website whether there is anything new in the field of art theft and restitution. Ton’s service has become indispensable for many of us in this area. We will have to see where we get our reliable and quick information every morning and sometime, thrice a day.
For me personally, the fact that my articles would appear at the site of Ton was an incredible stimulus. His reaction to my work has been a singular source of encouragement, stimulation and support to continue writing. He was the first to recognize that I could make a useful contribution to the discussions on restitution. Indeed, he established a category of „Dr. Kwame Opoku's writings about looted cultural objects" even before I had considered the possibility of writing regularly. This made me feel I should add a few more articles otherwise ithe category would appear to be rather thin. . I first set the limit to 20, then 30, then 40 and now there are 97 articles in that category.
.
Some of Ton’s words will stay with me for a long time: Do you sleep at all? It always did me a lot of good to know that at least one person recognized my contribution and potential.
Finally, I would like to thank Ton, as we say in Africa, from the bottom of my heart for all his encouragement and I hope we will continue to be in touch..
Best wishes, Kwame.
